Board member, chair of Resources Committee
Became a trustee in: 2005

Citizens Advice Exeter is of immense value to the people it serves and is essential in a society which can be complex and confusing to many of its citizens.

I became a trustee because I strongly believe in the work of the charity. The best part about Citizens Advice Exeter is that it provides much needed support to those people who, for whatever reason, are facing practical problems in their lives which they are finding difficult to resolve on their own. I also think that its ability to influence policy both locally and nationally is significant in enhancing people’s lives.

The best part about being a trustee is being involved in something that benefits so many people. And the fact that Citizens Advice Exeter currently seems to be moving from strength to strength is very satisfying.

I hope that Citizens Advice Exeter continues to develop the excellence of its service and its influence in relation to social policy. I hope that its services are recognised by funders and that a level of financial stability can be assured.

I am now retired and became a trustee on my retirement. Prior to that I was Head of Human Resources at Exeter City Council for more than 20 years.

I am married with no children and my personal interests include travelling, arts and culture and I have recently discovered exercise!
