Keith Steer
Board member, specialising in financial advice
Became a trustee in: 1997
Without Citizens Advice, many more people would find themselves in extremely serious situations with no one to offer practical, constructive and caring advice.
I became a trustee for Citizens Advice Exeter because I was very concerned about the financial problems which people were experiencing due to the aggressive marketing of credit cards, store cards and complicated financial products.
I was also extremely impressed with the amount of volunteers that work for Citizens Advice Exeter, some of whom have been giving their time for a number of years. I have been impressed with the attitude of fellow board members, volunteers and staff, particularly their desire to help others.
I am a qualified Chartered Accountant who has worked in private practice in Exeter since 1963. Between 1963 and 2007 I worked for Bush & Co, becoming a partner in 1972 and senior partner in 1992. Since 2007 I have been working as a consultant.
I have experience of working as a trustee board treasurer with Exeter Community Umbrella Limited and Exeter Phoenix Limited for a total period of ten years.
My personal interests are family, sport and France. I also enjoy films, theatre and politics.
