I hope to be able to support Citizens Advice and the worthwhile work they do within the community and I very much look forward to providing help and support to the people of Exeter.
I was born and raised in Exeter.
When I left school I went to Business College where I obtained an NVQ in business studies. I then started to work in local firms in an administrative role.
I then undertook a “Working in Europe” course where I studied IT and lived and worked in Denmark with a Danish family.
When I returned to Exeter, I knew that I wanted a career in law and wanted to work in family law where I could help others. I therefore obtained full time employment in a local law firm and started to study part time through the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx).
I qualified in 2008 and am now a Chartered Legal Executive and Senior Associate of my firm working in a local family law firm. I am a Team Leader for the Divorce & Finance Team. I have recently completed a management course and have experience in dealing with people and staff issues.
I also sit as Chair for the local Devon Branch of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives providing support to other Legal Executives and those studying for the qualification.
I work with many schools and colleges assisting young people in careers advice and like to encourage young people to achieve their goals and provide support to them.
Outside of work I am married and have many interests including golf, table tennis, badminton and keep fit. I like to cook and have completed courses in cake decorating.
I enjoy learning languages and have passed my Level 1 in British Sign Language and am also learning French.
